Mission:
Mission 9: When the Stars Went Silent
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: July 5, 2375 ~ 2 months after the Battle of Vulcan
Marcus had returned to his quarters after his meeting with Rebecca. His own squadron....son of a bitch! He grinned right up until he stretched. Abara really had tweaked Ming's shoulder a bit worse than he thought. He was young for a major but he wasn't quite as young as he once was.
Shaking his head Ming zipped up his tunic and headed for sickbay. He'd never been too proud to admit injury when it was warranted. The body was a temple after all. He didn't rush but still made good time to his destination. He looked around once he got into sickbay and Marcus spotted Dr. Reyes.
He made his way over to her since she seemed to be between patients. He smiled and said, "Hello Doctor. I had wondered if I might beg a moment or two of your time. Seems my wingman decided to demonstrate some new sparring moves without letting me know ahead of time. My shoulder seems to have taken the brunt of it."
Isabella softened at the mention of the injury. She took the medical scanner and scanned the parts of the shoulder. "You've torn the rotator cuff, luckily mildly so far. " Isabella made notes to his medical file. "I'm also added some supplements to your replicator patterns. Eat a salad while you're at it. So I don't have to tweak your pattern permissions on the food slots. Get the fresh spinach chef salad. Bolian cherry tomatoes just came in."
The left corner of Ming's mouth quirked a bit at the salad recommended. He said, "Well, my friend Joel, who is a gourmet cook, is sending over food around 0800 or so ship time. He makes this amazing locally sourced salad. I'll have him send over two. Do you like Salmon by chance? We can have an early lunch before the soirée tomorrow. Also catered by said friend. His donation for the war effort. Well, aside from feeding hungry officers and NCOs in his restaurant. He's become the talk of the academy staff."
Isabella's head slightly tilted in analysis as his request and the prospect of healthy foodstuff. "Okay...say 10 or 1030? At least that way I can make sure you eat properly." The doctor said, pointedly.
The Doctor's concern was both touching and a touch amusing. He usually was good about healthy eating. Lately, however, things had been so blasted busy he was focused more on food that could be eaten on the go. That translated to less healthy than usual. This'd be a good chance to get back on track, show off his best childhood friends skills, and share a meal with a beautiful woman.
Ming said, "Care to split the difference and say 1015 hours? Feeling brave enough to join me in my quarters?"
Isabella's tilted her head, "your quarters? No, I think not. Mister Eager. I know a dogfight when I see one." Her eyes flashed. "Lounge 1015. Civilian clothes."
Ming chuckled and said, "I don't bite or molest anyone without permission or unless requested but I digress. The lounge will work just fine. I'll look forward to seeing you there."
"That's good Major. Your recovery would be painful otherwise." Isabella said with a joke in her tone. She pressed a hypospray near the shoulder and replicated a sling. "Keep it immobile if you can for a few days."
“So no martial arts or football. I’ll do my best to avoid all that. Learned a long time ago going AMA is more trouble than it’s worth. Plus I’d rather not ruin our date before it even happens,” Marcus said with an impish glint in his eyes.
"Let me know if anything changes. I'll authorize some analgesics for your replicator should you need them to sleep for a couple of nights." Isabella said, then added, "Other than that, see you tomorrow morning, Marcus...though you strike me more as a Marc."
" I appreciate the treatments doctor. And a herd of rampaging targs couldn't prevent me from being there, Doctor. I'll harass the chef shortly to ensure that he will have everything on time but he's good about that kind of thing for the most part," Ming said with a kind smile.
The last statement took a second to click but it made him grin even more. He added, "Not many people have called me that in my lifetime. I...Think I am okay with you being one of them."
"Then see you tomorrow, Marc"
"See you then," came his reply. With a smile and a quick wink Marcus Ming then turned making his way back to his office.
